an idea I had after looking at the cover of Living February 2012 issue. I love the flowers in a heart shape but I wanted something that would last a bit longer than the flowers. I hope you enjoy the photos and instructions that follow. You are welcome to share it if you like it.
Picture
All you need is a heart template about 12” and a piece of cardboard or a cake circle. Also scrapbook paper 12” x 12”, cupcake liners (red, pink or white) and ribbon.

Cut out the heart shape.

Trace it on the cardboard

and cut out.

Spread glue on the back of the cardboard heart shape. Make sure you have glue to the edges.

Smooth your favorite scrapbook paper on the back and trim to the heart shape

Pinch one cupcake liner at the center bottom.

Place a small bit of hot glue on the bottom of the petal. Keep a bowl of ice near if you accidentally get hot glue on your fingers. Trust me it is a good thing!
Picture
Place on the front of your cardboard heart standing upright.
Picture
Continue to add petals to form the shape of a flower.
Picture
Add petals in clumps and move to a new area. If you continue in the same area the glue does not cool as quickly. You can go back to fill in.
Picture
When you have the heart shape filled with petals turn it over and hot glues a ribbon to the back so you can hang it.

Ready to hang.

I hope you love it.

Welcome to my very first blog.  I really hope you enjoy your time here. Well it was a busy and fun weekend. My nephew in Florida was married this weekend. We were not able to join them but my Dad sent back the photo below.  Just beautiful. Congratulations Candice and Robbie.

Also this weekend our good friends and their three children stayed at our house.  We had rain on Sunday which kept us inside. I had a quilt I made on my long arm machine and the kids were asking how it works so we all spent the day taking turns quilting the quilt. It was so much fun and the quilting turned great.  This quilt is just jelly roll strips sewn together.  We each took turns quilting a strip using what every designs we could imagine.  I was amazed how much the kids and husbands loved sewing out designs on the long arm.  Before the day was out the quilt was done. When I unloaded it from the machine everyone gathered aroung and picked out what they quilted and marveled at our beautiful quilt.  What a great memory whenever we look at this quilt.
What a great time! Hope you had a good weekend as well.
